I’ve been auditioning a lot lately for commercials, pilots and promos.

It’s been great to be in LA. I’ve been enjoying auditioning, meeting people

and I have experience of being very happy with my performance at the auditions.

Like my teachers say it’s about doing the best I can and performing because I love it not about impressing others.

I’ve been getting adjusted to LA and meeting a lot of people this month!
I’ve had auditions for theater, commercial, infomercial, feature film and pilot presentation.
I met with a lot of wonderful agents and if you will see my contact page you know who I am working with.
And creating a home in LA!
Also did course with Sam Christensen to fully understand my image which was a lot of fun!

One of the essences which came out was:

“Is there going to be a pop quiz? I feel like there is going to be a pop quiz”

I’m starting Margie Haber’s cold reading class today.

I’m very very excited, ever since I read her book “How to get the part without falling apart” and took classes with Roz Coleman I knew

she’s the one to train with for cold readings.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence day.

I ended up having a very relaxed July 4th. I stayed at my friend’s “palace” and watched movies and

ran around with their dog in the backyard. Very refreshing!!

I’ve been meeting Agents, Managers and casting directors.

First I’ve met with 50 agents, managers and casting directors in LA Actor’s Marathon through acting coach Gwyn Gilliss.

I’ve been having follow up office meetings and coffee with them.

I also joined the Actor’s Network which I’m very happy I found them because it’s a really supportive actor’s community as well as an opportunity to meet agents, managers and casting directors in the industry.

I also went to meet the production director at East West Players. It’s nation’s first and foremost Asian Pacific American Theatre founded in 1965. It was so great to see the theater which a lot of the famous Asian actors who I aspire to be originated from like John Cho, Reggie Lee, Daniel Dae Kim, Rex Lee and many more. It’s so great to see how much cultural diversity in film and TV has evolved in couple decades and I know I have organizations like this and my fellow Asian actors to thank.

Surprisingly I’m really liking LA

Here’s my top 5 reasons

5. There’s still the crazies and homeless people like in NYC. Maybe I’ve been in NYC too long but I feel like I’m at home when there’s these 2 groups of people…

4. Space… Living in NYC and Tokyo has gotten me used to small spaces but LA is so spread out I feel like I have a lot of room to breath and stretch out.

3. Nature!

I think there’s Nature in NYC. Central Park. But I went hiking at Runyon Canyon it felt like I was in middle of Jurassic Park.

Plus there’s the ocean. And I haven’t experienced it but people tell me you can snowboard and surf in the same day!!

2. Yummy fruits & veggies

When my friends from California told me that produce tastes better in California because they don’t need to travel too far to get on your plate because they are farmed there. I didn’t believe them… But it’s true! Any fruit/ veggie from any market’s been really good and people here are so health conscious I can find organic foods easily.

1. It’s so sunny I have no reason to be in a bad mood. I never knew what beautiful weather was until I came here. Compared to Tokyo, NYC is so dry that I couldn’t understand Californians saying NYC is gross in the summer. Now I understand. My hair’s never frizzy and I’m not sweating to death! lol

I moved to LA for the summer to pursue my acting career.

It’s really sunny here and very nice. I was afraid there won’t be anything around for miles on end because I was told I need a car to get to anything. But where I’m staying I can walk to the mall, the bank, Whole Foods and K mart. It’s very convenient. People are friendly and nice I’m surprisingly enjoying it here.

I also already have an audition on Monday for a major manufacturing company!!

I looked very professional today and loved my hair and makeup!!

I went to see the Passion Play written by Sarah Ruhl at Irondale in Brooklyn with my mom on Friday.

I’ve been a fan of Sarah Ruhl’s play since I saw the “In the Next Room” -the  vibrator play on Broadway.

She’s so witty and marvelous playwright. And Passion Play was an ingenious idea to bring people together and

start a conversation about Religion and Politics in our culture.

It’s definitely an epic being 3 hours and a half. With the scenes starting from England when Queen Elizabeth

forbid Passion Plays, to World War II Germany when Hitler was full endorser of the Passion Play and have

encouraged it to go on, and 1970′s when Passion Play was put on in Idaho with Reagan coming to see the play.

The set was amazing, it was set in a Church with great set design.

It touched my heart to want to want to be in great plays like this.
